In Florida, when the sun comes out, we are ready to play — the beach, the water and restaurants are all booming with activity. But when it rains, our options are limited as to what we can do. For those days when you feel trapped inside, here are 5 things to do on a rainy day in Palm Beach County.
EXPLORE THE ARTS
Whether you have the kids or all by yourself, the Norton Museum of Art is always a great place to visit. From the breathtaking exhibits to the educational lecture series to curator’s conversation to Art After Dark, you’ll find something for everyone. Better yet — the Norton Museum of Art offers some great discounts if you plan accordingly including free admission on the first Saturday of the month for Palm Beach County residents, free admission to residents of West Palm Beach on any Saturday and free admission to teachers any day with a valid ID.
The Norton Museum of Art is located at 1451 S. Olive Avenue in West Palm Beach.
Escape the rain and head over to the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium for an afternoon of fun. The museum has over 50 hands-on educational exhibit; a 3,000 gallon fresh and salt water aquarium; a digital planetarium; an interactive Everglades Exhibit; and a Conservation Research Station (and some outdoor exhibits for those non-rainy days like mini golf, a science trail where you can dig for fossils, a butterfly garden and more). The museum also hosts a variety of special events.
Entrance cost is normally $16.95 for adults and $12.95 for children 3-12, but there are some opportunities to save more like bringing in your report card (students who get an “A” or “E” in science on their report card can enjoy a free admission with the purchase of an adult admission); checking in on Facebook (check in on Facebook and receive $2 off admission, you must show your phone at the entrance); and veterans and active members of the military will enjoy 20% off year-round.
The South Florida Science Museum is located at 4801 Dreher Trail North in West Palm Beach; (561) 832-1988

From yoga to business classes to live music and art, there’s something for everyone nearly everyday of the week, many of which are free to attend (or with a donation of your choosing).
