Gather the kids and head to CityPlace on Wednesdays and Thursdays this summer. Starting in June and ending in August, Carmike Cinemas will be showing movies for the kids, with the featured film changing each week. The movies begin at 10 a.m. Cost is $4 and includes admission, a small popcorn and a small coca-cola product. These movies are presented in 2D and are subject to change.

Carmike Cinemas is located on the second floor in CityPlace.

It’s going to quite the site on Sun., March 8th as the Ducky Derby returns CityPlace to benefit Adopt-A-Family of the Palm Beaches — and you can be a part of it. How? By adopting a rubber duck. Yes, you can go online and purchase 1 of 3 packages of ducks, ranging from $5-$100 — they’ll also be available on the day of the event.  On the day of the event, the participating adopted duck will be chose at random from 1/2 block long pond and those chosen will enjoy a fabulous prize including a gift certificate to a local restaurant, a 1-week stay in Orlando and one lucky winner will go home with $5,000.

The 3rd Annual Ducky Derby is part of CityPlace’s Monthly Family Fun Fest. In addition to the derby, participants can also dress up with their favorite tropical clothes (the theme this month is a Luau); enjoy the bounce house, arts and crafts, face painting — and be able to meet their favorite characters. Plenty of picture opportunities.

Family Fun Fest returns to CityPlace on Sun., Feb.8th from 1-4 pm. This month’s theme is Cupid’s Corner and will celebrate Valentine’s Day. This event is perfect for the entire family and is free to attend. Guests will enjoy a variety of activities including:

Free Family Fun Fest returns to CityPlace on Sunday, January 11th. The theme this month is Hero’s Day and it will take place from 1-4 p.m.  This free event will allow children to meet firemen, police and emergency responders; explore a fire truck; take pictures with your favorite Star Wars characters and mingle with other superheroes.  The event is free to attend and is open to the public.

Artisans on the Ave
Join the The Ceramic League of the Palm Beaches for their holiday exhibit and sale on Friday from 6-9 p.m. in Lake Worth. This includes a free public reception with refreshments, demos and great clay art. This will take place at 630 Lake Avenue in Lake Worth; 561.582.3300

Free Music on the Plaza
On Friday, from 7-11 p.m. head over to CityPlace for their free live entertainment on the Plaza with music be Eclipse (Top 40 Variety).

 

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 13TH

Writing Workshop 
Jessica Handler’s Writing Workshop will take place at the Boca Raton Museum of Art on Saturday from 2-4 p.m. Discuss examples from classic literature, generate new material from prompts and learn the tools to write well about difficult subjects. North Pole at Legacy Place
Legacy Place (in the space adjacent to both Petco and Shoe Carnival) will be transformed into the North Pole on Saturday from noon – 3 p.m. For this free event, guests will enjoy a petting zoo, face painting, stilt walkers, a meet and greet with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Free Family Fun Fest

CityPlace continues their monthly free family fun fest this Sunday from 1-4 pm. This month’s theme is Winter Wonderland — and guests will enjoy photos with Santa, snowfalls on the plaza, train rides, cultural and holiday performances, a chance to make toys with the elves and more. Guests are also encouraged to bring a toy for Toys for Tots.

FAU presents: Tuba Christmas Concert

Tuba and Euphonium players of all ages are welcome to perform in this free concert in Mizner Park Amphitheater. Performer registration begins at 2:30 p.m. while the concert starts at 5:00 p.m.

This weekend, November 22nd and 23rd, head down to CityPlace for a little holiday shopping. Whether you are looking to add some art to your walls or beautify your home (or that of your friends), The CityPlace Fine Art & Plant Show (yes, this event brings 2 festivals together into 1) will give you many options from which to choose.

The Fine Art Show will bring you sculptures, paintings, photography, glass, ceramic/clay, mixed media and more from local and national artists. The Plant Show, on the other hand, will have orchids, flowering trees, roses, bamboo and more.

CityPlace celebrates the beginning of the holiday season with their annual tree lighting and first snowfall of the season on Saturday, November 15th. Taking place on the CityPlace plaza, the tree lighting comes with a day of holiday activities — perfect for the entire family. Here’s the schedule of activities:

3:00 p.m.

  • Magicians, jugglers, living statues
  • Live DJ
  • Performance by the Miami Dolphins and Fins Force cheerleading teams
  • Visit with Santa at Macy’s from 3-9 p.m.

6:00 p.m.

  • Cirque du CiyPlace
    • Opening act by Akademia Dance
    • Cirque-inspired performance by South Florida Dance Company
  • Tree lighting
  • CityPlace’s first “snowfall” of the season

7:00 p.m.

Live holiday entertainment

In addition to the day’s festivities, visitors will enjoy a Holiday Music Series every Sunday, and a train ride will run from 3 to 9 p.m. Wed-Thurs; 3 to 10 p.m. on Friday; 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday; and noon to 8 p.m. on Sunday. Nightly snowfalls will also occur throughout the holidays at 6 + 7 p.m. Mon-Wed; and at 6, 7 and 8 p.m. Thurs-Sun until Dec. 31st.

Other festivities throughout the CityPlace season include a Holiday Music Series every Sunday, and a train ride that will run 3 to 9 p.m., Wednesday through Thursday; 3 to 10 p.m. on Friday; 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday; and noon to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
