Every month, Whole Foods Markets around the country host inexpensive or free classes to get you back into the kitchen or introduce you to new food products. Here are our picks for the events taking place in Wellington in August:
- Sunday, August 7 from noon until 4:00 pm – Domestic Artisan Cheese Tasting – free – no registration required
- Saturday, August 13 from 2-4 pm – Healthy Eating Specialist, Cheryl, will teach your entire family how to create easy, quick lunches. Free, but you must pre-register by calling 561.904.4000
- Sunday, August 14 from 2:00-3:30 pm – Enjoy a free Thai cooking demo with Chef Joe using fresh ingredients from Whole Foods. Pre-register by call 561.904.4000
- Thursday, August 18 from 6:30-8:30 pm – Enjoy an Award Winning Domestic Artisan Cheese Class. Each cheese will be paired with a beer or wine that will enhance the flavor. Cost is $5 and pre-registration is required by stopping by customer service or calling 561.904.4000
- Saturday, August 20 from 4-7 pm – Enjoy a free Back to School Bonanza at Whole Foods Wellington. The day’s activities will include store wide sampling, burgers for backpacks cookout, magic and free ID cards for kids and more.
- Sunday, August 28 from 2-3 pm – Join the regional coffee, tea and spice coordinator from Whole Foods for an informative class all about coffee. Guests will taste coffees from around the world and learn about the growing and harvesting process. This is free but you must pre-register by calling 561.904.4000 or by stopping by customer service.

If you haven’t been to Wellington lately, it’s time to make a trip — if for nothing else than to visit Pangea Bistro. Get ready to experience five star cuisine in a casual environment — thanks to Chef Ryan Vargas who previously had spent some time at the Wynn Las Vegas, Four Seasons Palm Beach and the Ritz-Carlton Kapalua. The menu combines Hawaiian fusion cuisine with an international flair, and from the moment you walk inside, your senses will be awakened with his creative culinary creations.
During the month of July, Pangea is doing a facebook blitz where they will be giving a free appetizer away to their fans each day during happy hour (3-7 pm). Every day, visit their facebook page to find out what the giveaway will be that day. Then, visit Pangea Bistro during happy hour, order something — anything (their house wine starts at just $2.50 during happy hour) and you’ll enjoy the appetizer of the day for free.

Total Wine is holding an “Around the World” wine tasting at Total Wine in Wellington on Wednesday, April 13, 2011. Guests will sample wines from around the world and learn about how the Vinceremos Therapeautic Riding Center enhances the lives of those with disabilities in Palm Beach County. Total Wine & More will donate 30% of all of its winery direct sale wine proceeds to Vinceremos during the event.
