We’ve giving away five pairs of tickets to see Rigoletto, part of The Met: Live in HD series, which transmits performances live from the Metropolitan Opera in New York to movie screens nationwide.

The matinee performance will be at 12:55 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Regal Sawgrass, 2600 NW 136th Ave., Sunrise. This is not your traditional Rigoletto, but is set in 1960 Las Vegas. It stars Zeljko Lucic, Diana Damrau and Piotr Beczala. Stay tuned, because we’ll also be doing giveaways for three more opera broadcasts. Regular ticket price is $25 for adults, $23 for seniors and $19 for children.

Here’s how to enter to win two tickets to Rigoletto:

  1. Subscribe to our daily newsletter from Fort Lauderdale on the Cheap or Palm Beach on the Cheap. If you already subscribe, proceed to Step 2
  2. Leave a comment at the end of this post about your favorite way to enjoy culture in South Florida on the Cheap.
  3. Deadline to enter is midnight Feb. 8.

The drawing will be conducted and winners will be notified Feb. 9. Watch your email that morning because if you win, you’ll need to send us your postal address for us to mail you tickets. If we don’t hear from you, we’ll draw another winner.

Contestants must be 18 or older. One entry per household. Winners must be residents of South Florida.

  1. Best way for movies in S.FL is to find your local art house movie theatres and see first run movies for $5 or maybe $7 per ticket.
They are usually very well run theaters with caring ownership. Enjoy!!
