Sharon Geltner, is the editor of Palm Beach on the Cheap. Her career has spanned social work, social climbing, social media and more recently, social distancing. Sharon is an epic shopper, bargain hunter and proud frugalista. She has contributed to travel guides published by Fodor’s, Random House, the Wall Street Journal and others. The Washington Post quoted her on unpretentious vacations.
Sharon has worked as a reporter in the Chicago area, Washington, D.C., and Boca Raton, Florida; written for celebrity authors, and traveled the world on assignment (ranging from luxury tourism to briefly being a Mideast war correspondent.) She’s also been an adjunct professor, teaching Internet Marketing.
Her achievements include a national award for Outstanding News Reporting from the Society of Professional Journalists and being the founder of National Net Needs News Day (#NetNeedsNews), a journalism appreciation campaign. The Small Business Administration honored her for its district from Tampa to The Keys (comprising one million businesses) for her social media consultancy and community outreach.
Sharon’s experiences in elite Palm Beach and Boca Raton philanthropy inspired the fun mystery and satire Charity Bashed, a semifinalist in Amazon’s Breakthrough Novel contest.
