Poet Flose Boursiquot will host a 3-part spoken word poetry workshop at Social House in Lake Worth that will teach students how to find their voice — and give them the confidence to use their voice loud and proud.
This series will kick-off on Thursday, June 6 and will consist of 3 evening classes — and each will include a complimentary glass of wine. The cost for the series is $40 (that’s just over $13 a class). You must buy the series.
Class #1: Thursday, June 6 from 6-8 p.m.
During this class, attendees will define who they are (beyond what they do), learn what poetry is and go over some examples (ie. haiku, spoken word, modern). Attendees will also spend time writing their personal story and learn why this is so important when writing poetry. Furthermore, guests will share their personal story with the group and workshop it together — and have an assignment to take home.
Class #2: Thursday, June 13 from 6-8 p.m.
During this class, the group will review the homework, revisit personal stories, work further on finding their voice, work time, spend time sharing with the group and do some group exercises.
Class #3: Thursday, June 27 from 6-8:30 p.m.
Open Mic Night — The class will begin with a group rehearsal and will be followed by an open mic, open to the public.
Social House is located at 512 Lucerne Avenue in Lake Worth.
