FreeFridayConcerts_logo2012_webDelray Beach Center for the Arts at Old School Square presents a series of outdoor concerts. These concerts take place every Friday through Jan. 31, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. (rain or shine). Admission is free, but donations are appreciated.

Bring blankets and chairs — but no pets or outside food/beverage. There will be food trucks onsite and a cash bar will be available.

tangowpbThe West Palm Beach Public Library is celebrating its new facilities at 411 Clematis St. with a variety of free events starting Wednesday, April 15. Here are a few highlights:

* Classical flamenco guitarist Howard Greenblatt from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, April 16.
* Free Argentine tango lessons from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 16, continuing most Thursdays.
* Free movies for kids and teens Friday, April 17, Saturday, April 18, and Monday, April 20.
* Kids’ events 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 18, to celebrate the opening of the library’s new KidSpace.

The library events are part of the grand opening celebration for the West Palm Beach new City Center, which begins Thursday, April 16, with a parade.

You can spend the weekend in Brazil without leaving Florida as Brazil on the Beach comes to Hollywood Beach Friday, March 20, through Sunday, March 22, for a free celebration of Brazilian music and sports.

Brazilian superstar Daniela Mercury, an international pop star and Grammy winner, will share the rhythms of her native Bahia in a free concert at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 21, on the beach east of Connecticut Street. There are a limited number of VIP tickets available for $40; click here for details.

The concert will climax an exciting weekend of world-class Footvolley competition, compliments of the Second Annual Pro Footvolley Tour Hollywood Beach Open, featuring many of the demanding sport’s greatest competitors. Footvolley combines elements of beach volleyball and soccer. This new professional tour, launched on Hollywood Beach in 2008, features the best players in the United States competing against international guests. Matches will be all three days on the beach between Polk and Buchanan.

Free music will fill several stages Friday night, Saturday and Sunday.

chrismaloneySinger, songerwriter and bass player Christopher Maloney will give a free performance and talk about songwriting and the music business at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, at Wolfe Guitars, 2875 Jupiter Park Drive, Jupiter.

Maloney will perform songs from his solo CDs as well as from his instrumental band Cosmosquad. He will also talk about the Los Angeles-based Musicians Institute and its music programs.
